The application of hands

On your initial session the physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment of your problem.   From that examination the probable causes of your problem will be identified, and you will be educated as to how manual therapy can assist you. You and your physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan based on your assessment findings with the goal of increasing mobility and function.  You will be provided with your own program of active movements, stretches, or strengthening exercises to supplement and maintain the improvements gained from the manual therapy techniques. During every treatment session your physiotherapist will reassess your condition with progressions to your program made as required.

 Physiotherapists at Smithwick's Physiotherapy are encouraged to continue their manual therapy skill acquisition through continuing education courses and mentoring after graduation.
